GLAAD is seeking to train and work with current undergraduate students as our Campus Ambassadors for the 2018-2019 academic year. GLAAD Campus Ambassadors help build sustainable and inclusive programming for LGBTQ and ally university students and youth, all while learning GLAAD’s best practices on leveraging media to create change.

GLAAD Campus Ambassadors contribute to GLAAD’s mission of accelerating acceptance for LGBTQ people by producing dynamic, educational media content relevant to the lived experiences of queer youth. Campus Ambassadors are crucial representatives for LGBTQ youth and, with support from GLAAD, can reach a national audience. Campus Ambassadors have been featured in publications and outlets such as Billboard, CNN, Huffington Post, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Entertainment Tonight, Essence, INTO, MTV, Seventeen, Teen Vogue, them, Autostraddle, and more.

Additionally, Campus Ambassadors have played a fundamental role in the creation of sustainable and inclusive programming for youth. In the program’s first two years, these incredible students led campaigns to inform and engage students in LGBTQ-inclusive activism, emboldened their campuses to stand up against anti-LGBTQ bullying on Spirit Day, and released an open letter to Congress through the media demanding sensible gun reform in the wake of the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.

Behind the scenes, GLAAD equipped Campus Ambassadors with advocacy training, networking skills, and access to GLAAD’s connections of experts and influential spokespeople of the LGBTQ community.

GLAAD looks forward to accepting up to 150 Campus Ambassadors in the 2018-2019 program. To be a GLAAD Campus Ambassador, you must be an undergraduate student enrolled full-time at an accredited (2-year or 4-year) U.S. college or university. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with a deadline of September 2nd. To apply online and learn more, visit glaad.org/campus.
